Before You Apply

Before starting your application, please read the information below. When you are ready to begin the application process, click here to be directed to the Applicant Login page.

1. Select the proper application. Before starting your application, please identify which application pertains to you:
   • If you are interested in teaching with Newark Public Schools and you are not currently a Newark Public Schools teacher, select the Teacher Application.
   • If you are interested in becoming a Newark Public Schools principal, select the Principal Application.
   • If you are currently a fulltime teacher with Newark Public Schools and are interested in transfer opportunities, visit Talent Match for more information.
   • If you are working outside of Neark Public Schools and are interested in any other instructional/non-instructional positions (including, but not limited to, Child Study Team role, guidance counselor, school psychologist, paraprofessional, security guard, teacher's aide), visit the NPS Careers page here.
2. Check your eligibility status.
   Certified applicants as well as those interested in an alternative route certification must meet our minimum eligibility requirements. Applicants must be certified to teach in New Jersey, authorized to work in the United States, and pass a criminal background check. 3. Apply now.
   Our streamlined online application is easy to use and submit. To get started, click the 'Apply Now' link above. You will then be directed to the Newark Public Schools Applicant Login page. Once there, please create an application account by clicking the 'Create New Account' button at the bottom of the application login page.

Helpful Application Hints:

We have recently updated our teacher and principal applications.

• If you applied for a position in the past and would like to be considered for a position in 2013-2014, you must update your application. Please login to your application and provide your unique username and password. You will be prompted to complete the new portions of the application before resubmitting it.
• If you started an application before January 14, 2013, but did not complete it, it has been saved in our system. Please login to your application and providing your unique username and password. You will be prompted to complete the new portions of the application before resubmitting it.

When completing your application, please be sure to have the following items on hand:

• Your resume saved as a Microsoft Word document
• Contact information for three professional references
• Copy of your certification (if any)
• Transcripts from your undergraduate and/or graduate institutions
• Praxis score report (if applicable)
